Cindy Anderson, Administrative Assistant

My name is Cindy Anderson and I have lived in Fairfax for about 10 years. I grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and received my BA in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from the University of Northern Iowa. I also have an Associate's Degree in Community Corrections as well as an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies, both from Kirkwood Community College.

I worked in the Human Services field with youth at Foundation 2, Linn County Youth Shelter and Four Oaks STOP Program for several years. I then switched to working as a paralegal for the next 21 years. For 16 years I worked in civil litigation and then for the remaining time I worked for the Federal Defender's office doing criminal defense work. I retired from my legal career in 2019, am a full-time property manager, and work part time at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walford, IA.

I have 3 adult children all out on their own. My children were very involved in music, band and sports and I volunteered in each of those areas for a number of years. I love gardening, being outside and animals. I have served on the Fairfax Planning and Zoning Board; I am a current board member on the Board of Adjustment;  I am a member of the Parks & Beautification Committee and Fairfax Trails Committee. I volunteered for the Fairfax Food Pantry, helped Fairfax residents during Derecho clean-up, as well as helped with the apartment fire victims securing necessities after their losses.

I am passionate about doing what is right and good for the whole of the community. I will speak my mind and often have strong opinions. I will always be respectful and honest.  My personal mottos is – Just Because You Can, Doesn’t Mean You Should.
